Winter Bucket List

“In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”
— Albert Camus

We are close the most wonderful time of the year, but sadly we still have to wait another month… Nevertheless, to cheer you up: there’s enough to do in winter beside Christmas! Just scroll through this list of winter things and I’m sure you’ll find something you can do and have a winter with amazing activities!

First, let’s get you warmed up for the winter. If you can walk in a t-shirt in winter, what’s your secret? And no, I’m prepared: don’t say Australia. The first thing that you should do is to clean out your closet, go on a shopping spree with your best friend and hang all your new cozy clothes in your closet. This is a fun thing to do, but also necessary. And maybe you can grab hot chocolate milk on your way to the next shop!

Snow’s falling

Build a snowman, go ice skating, learn to snowboard or ski, have a snowball fight or go on a sleigh ride: there are a lot of things to do outside. I know it’s cold, but grab your gloves, scarf and jacket and enjoy the winter while it lasts! It won’t be forever.

Food, food and again: food

I get it if you don’t feel like being outside, so here’s a fun activity to do inside your house! There are a lot of winter snacks to bake, such as stollen or gingerbread. You can also decorate cookies. Although, don’t forget to drink! Make your own chocolate milk with whipped cream: it’ll be delicious.

Santa tell me?

I can’t skip this part, so sorry to the Christmas haters, but for me this is one of the nicest moments of winter. The time before Christmas is amazing. Decorating the Christmas tree, listening to Christmas songs and making your own playlist, cooking and eating with your family on Christmas Eve, in other words: a perfect atmosphere. This is the time to buy presents for someone you love and go around the shops for all those Christmas shows. Driving around in your car with your friends when it’s dark to see all the light decorations on the houses. I can go on and on about Christmas, but I think you get my point so I’ll move to the next one!

We can’t forget New Year’s Eve, right? You might not live in New York to see the ball dropping, but hey, there’s more to do! Play games with your friends until the clock hands are at 12 o’clock, or watch your favourite movie with your beloved ones. If you’re more of a party animal, go to a party and count together with the people around you. After 12 a.m., head out to see the fireworks, you can only get this chance once a year!

Where to next?

This might not be an option for everyone because you don’t have the time or money to do this, but if you do: you’re very lucky! Some places are beautiful to visit in winter. For the persons who adore nature, take a look at Hallstatt in Austria, Queenstown in New Zealand, Lapland in Finland or Banff National Park in Canada. The persons who love the cities more, here are some examples: Prague in Czech Republic, Harbin in China, Dublin, Ireland, and how could I forget: New York City, USA.
